Radiesse vs Sculptra
As an innovator in her field, Dr. Cantrell was involved in the original trials of Radiesse, was the area’s lead user of the product and had the distinction of being the area’s first Black Diamond award. Likewise, Dr. Cantrell lead Florida in the use of Sculptra in hands and other, full feature correction protocols ahead of FDA approvals.
Radiesse was the first long lived filler to be widely used and is a combination filler and bio-activator. Being calcium based, it not only gives an immediate result, it further stimulates the growth of natural collagen and enhances the skin’s dermal matrix. Longevity can be greatly influenced by how quickly the individual’s body absorbs sub dermal calcium at the correction site. Based on years of clinical experience, some patients can see results dissipate in as little as 3 months with the majority satisfied with their results for at least 10 months. Though many will want additional treatment after this time, there is still noticeable residual volume that persists due to the increase in collagen. Bruising and swelling are the most common side effects due to the heavier consistency of Radiesse compared to other fillers. In all cases, this resolves in a time period consistent with individual patient history.
Sculptra is not a dermal filler per-say but a bio-activator which stimulates the body to build more of its own, natural collagen. Sculptra’s cosmetic results are created entirely from this process. Initial results often forecast the final outcome from the small amount of sterile water used in the treatment and this dissipates in one or two days as the body absorbs this water. Bruising and swelling are minimal and most patients can go immediately back to work, experiencing no down time at all. Long term results start to become noticeable in 3-4 weeks with most of the correction completed during the first couple of months.
The amount of correction from each treatment is based on several factors relating directly to the specific patient’s relative age and needs. Once a full correction is achieved, results can last years. Typically, one’s natural aging process will benefit from minor touch-ups every few years.
|"...very pleased with the results. The look is very natural and the onset of the enhancement was very gradual so nobody really noticed I'd "had work" done. Love the look, love the result..."
"...More importantly, the one administering it is a M.D. I do not think I could trust anyone that was not a doctor injecting anything in my face. It took about 2 hours for her to inject the Sculptra. She was awesome about questions and educating me. She wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the procedure. I also like the fact that Med Spa Plus and Dr. C herself are not pushy sales people. She is able to tell you why things are they way they are and why these changes happen and just doesn't hype products to sell you. I choose Sculptra on my own after she explained all options that could work for my face and the results I was hoping to see..." My rating: 5 stars

“My family doctor commented during a recent visit how much more rested I looked since he last saw me. Thank you again for reassuring me that it’s never too late to improve your appearance.”

“I have completed 5 treatments with you … I have a few experiences I would like to share. One night my husband decided we’ll take the kids out for dinner. I immediately headed for the bedroom to do my makeup. My husband stopped me and asked where I was going. I said, “I’m going to put my makeup on.” He looked dumbfounded. These next words will ring in my heart forever. He said … “I didn’t realize you don’t have any makeup on.” Now that’s huge! … I love what have done and are doing for me.”
